Valentine’s Day is celebrated worldwide in many different ways. In the United States and Europe, people often exchange cards, flowers, and chocolates with loved ones. In Japan, women give chocolate to men, and in return, men give gifts a month later on White Day. In some countries, people also celebrate with romantic dinners or special dates. The legend of St. Valentine is about a priest who secretly married couples during a time when marriage was forbidden. Emperor Claudius II believed that married men weren't good soldiers. St. Valentine was sentenced to death for his actions. St. Valentine is now a famous patron of love and this is why we celebrate love on February 14th. The classes 2B/so and 2A/so of our school made a project about the strongest emotion: romantic love. First we did some exercises about the legend of St. Valentine in groups and had a look at some typical idioms and we had a lot of fun while doing them. Then we prepared some short presentations about famous love couples for example about Romeo and Juliet, Paolo and Francesca and Marie and Pierre Curie. Lastly we became creative and made Valentine`s Cards with love letters and love poems inside, as this is really traditional. Until the end of February you can find a big board in front of the library with all the Valentine`s cards we made and all of you can come to vote for your 3 favorite ones! You can find the exact instructions on the board! We would be very happy if you came!
