The 17 students of the 2Asp acted as teachers of English and multilingualism at the Zollschule in Lana during Reading Day. In groups of four and five they took over the lessons in two classes of Year 4 and in two classes of Year 5 at the primary school. Not only did they read out children’s books like the “Gruffalo”, “Not like my dad”; “Winnie the Witch”, and “A squeeze and a squash” in English, but they had also prepared the posters and the creative activities around them in English, German, and Italian. They had also included in their lessons some time slots for the pupils to use their home languages. A great multilingual variety could be heard in the classrooms with languages such as Polish, Slovak, Serbian, Arabic, Macedonian, Albanian, French, Spanish, and Russian. Older and younger students alike agreed on the fact that Reading Day was an interesting and cute experience that they will certainly remember.
